1% Cut Pledge

I
offered a series of one percent reductions to the appropriations bills last
year. Republicans should uniformly pledge to get a handle on spending by taking the first step and trimming a
penny-on-the-dollar from all spending. Right now, there is inertia for spending
- it keeps going up with nothing to stop it. Republicans must be willing to
demonstrate their resolve to make tough decisions about our fiscal future and
make a start

So simple - so obvious
An obvious and necessary baby step towards what is truly our government's biggest problem. Now if you could only get PBS, 60 Minutes and maybe even that noted Nobel laureate Al Gore to do a story on how uncontrolled spending is hurting all Americans, we can BEGIN to affect public opinion to the point where it will show up in the ballot box.
Here on the loony left coast we have a governor who tried to initiate across the board cuts (as mandated by law) in response to a legislature that refuses to pass a timely budget and he's been vilified for it.
Good Luck
